We labeled another cluster as Cluster NMJ, since the myonuclei in this cluster express transcripts associated with the neuromuscular junction (NMJ), such as Chrne (coding for the acetylcholine receptor subunit epsilon), Colq, Prkar1a, and Col25a1 (21, 22). Additionally, a subset of genes expressed in the NMJ and MTJ clusters is also highly expressed in the nuclei of other mononucleated cell types (e.g., Lama2 in fibro/adipogenic progenitor [FAP] cells and tenocytes), but these genes are not expressed in the myonuclei of Clusters IIa, IIx, or IIb, supporting the uniqueness of Clusters NMJ and MTJ |
