Evidence | The non-proliferative nature of npiCTBs was evidenced by the reduced expression of genes involved in cell proliferation such as XIST, DDX3X, and EIF1AX (Figure 1—figure supplement 3). npiCTBs displayed an increased expression of PAGE4 (Figure 1—figure supplement 3), a gene expressed by CTBs isolated from pregnancy terminations (Genbacev et al., 2011), suggesting that this type of trophoblast cell is present earlier in gestation |
