we found high expression of collagens (collagen type 1-alpha 1 [Col1a1], collagen type 3-alpha 1 [Col3a1], collagen type 5-alpha 1 [Col5a1]) and other ECM proteins (decorin [Dcn], fibulin-2 [FBln2], matrix metalloproteinase 2 [Mmp2], serpin family f member 1 [Serpinf1], and caldesmon [Cald1]) in ventral fibroblasts (Figure S4B). We also identified higher expression of bone morphogenetic protein receptor 2 (Bmpr2), apoliporotein E (Apoe), and integrin subunit-beta 1 (Itgb1) in ventral fibroblasts.The incomplete overlap between transcriptional profiles of dorsal and ventral dermis fibroblasts, and thus how critical it is to consider the distinct fibroblast lineage marked by Prrx1 expression when investigating fibrosis of the ventral dermis. |
