Evidence | Common fibroblast markers such as collagen type I alpha 1 chain (COL1A1), fibroblast activation protein alpha (FAP) and the mesenchymal cell marker vimentin (VIM) were expressed in both CAF subpopulations, confirming their fibroblast identity. Although Platelet Derived Growth Factor Receptor Alpha (PDGFRA) is commonly used as a CAF marker in different settings, we found that it is predominantly expressed in iCAFs (Fig. 3D). |
