| Evidence | Cells in this cluster demonstrated high expression of the glial fibrillary acid protein (GFAP), which is widely expressed in astrocytes responding to neuronal injury [20], and the astrocyte-specific infammatory cytokine IFITM3 [21]. Astrocytes from the AIR donor were enriched for SOCS3 [22], SLPI [23], and CH25H [24], genes that have all been previously found to be expressed in astrocytes responding to CNS injury. |
