Evidence Interestingly, and in line with the predicted loss of motif activity during adipocyte differentiation, knockdown of SNAI2, MEF2A, NKX3-1, TEAD1, TEAD4, SMAD3, FLI1 and HIF1A (encoding the hypoxia-inducible factor 1alpha subunit) resulted in increased lipid accumulation (Fig. 6c and Supplementary Fig. 6g) and adipocyte marker gene expression (Fig. 6e) in response to the adipogenic cocktail.
